I decided to get into dentistry because I love art and I thought that it was a good combination of helping people. Also, being artistic in combining those in the same type of job. I like making patients happy. Giving them the smile that they want, helping them get out of pain, I think, are one of the biggest things for me.
When I have a patient in my chair, they’re it. My entire focus is on them. I like to pay attention to detail and make sure that I’m doing everything to the best of my ability to give them the outcome that they want. Well, I always tell my patients that we can’t go back and change the past. I can’t change what their past dental experience is, but I can help them going forward. And so I can explain the procedures and try to make them feel as comfortable as possible when they come into our office.
Dr. Heather Dowlin Has Been Named a Top Dentist Multiple Times
Dr. Heather Dowlin loves her job! She loves helping people understand their dental needs and easing common dental fears. With her gentle chairside manner, patients always feel comfortable during their appointment. Dr. Dowlin has a passion for cosmetic dentistry, restoring dental implants, and treating children. Her community has recognized her talent and passion for dentistry by voting her as one of Charlotte Magazine’s Top Dentists multiple times.
Growing up in Downingtown, PA, Dr. Dowlin experienced a positive influence from her dentist and orthodontist that piqued her interest in a dental career. That and her love of art inspired her to pursue dentistry. Throughout school, she had a strong work ethic and excelled in sports. Dr. Dowlin was an All-American field hockey player at Shippensburg University.
After graduation, Dr. Dowlin attended the Temple University Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry. During those years, she received the Pierre Fauchard Leadership Award and was actively involved in student government. While there, she also provided dental care in poverty-stricken areas during a mission trip to Haiti.
Dr. Dowlin dedicates many hours to continuing education groups to advance her skills in dentistry. She also volunteers in the community with North Carolina Missions of Mercy to help families in need of dental care. Her professional affiliations include the American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Society, and Charlotte Dental Society.
When Dr. Dowlin is not in the office, she is a marathon and ultra-marathon runner. She is active in many Charlotte running clubs. In addition, she thoroughly enjoys her children’s activities and loves sports and spending time with family and friends.
