So I decided to get into dentistry because my grandfather had been a practicing dentist, and so watching him growing up, I just loved his interaction with patients. I enjoyed how he made folks feel, how he helped folks get out of pain, restore their smile. And that was something that I really was drawn to. Probably the most rewarding thing about dentistry is making folks smile. I love being able to have someone come into the office not enjoying the way they appear when they talk or smile or interact with others and making sure by the time they leave, they do have a big smile on their face. Probably the biggest thing would be that they know that I served them well and served them from the heart. I think the biggest reason why that would be important for me personally would be that it honors and glorifies my Savior Jesus Christ. The motto that we live by is Matthew 7:12, “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” That’s what we really strive to achieve every time a patient comes into Charlotte Dentistry.
Dr. Christopher Watson Loves Making a Difference in His Patients’ Lives
Growing up in Fayetteville, NC, Dr. R. Chris Watson had a close relationship with his grandfather, who was a dentist himself. When it came time for college, Dr. Watson decided to become a dentist, too. He knew it was a career in which he could make a difference, use his artistic talents, and utilize his strong compassion for people.
Dr. Watson is known for his energetic and friendly personality, his colorful bow ties, and passion for golf. He possesses great zeal for comforting patients. His favorite verse is: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
Dr. Watson completed undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Florida State University. He returned to UNC, where he completed his DDS degree. At UNC, Dr. Watson took part in a hospital internship at the University of Virginia. He joined Charlotte Dentistry in 2000.
He is a certified top 1 percent Invisalign practitioner for all of North America and has been a Diamond Plus Provider of Invisalign and Invisalign Teen since 2007. Charlotte Dentistry has been the largest Invisalign provider in our community under his leadership. Since 2018, he has been named one of Charlotte Magazine’s Top Dentists.
Dr. Watson is a member of several professional organizations: Charlotte Dental Society, North Carolina Dental Society, American Dental Association Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Orthodontic Society, International Association of Orthodontics, and American Academy of Clear Aligners.
Outside the office, Dr. Watson has four amazing daughters. Each one is so unique and special, and he loves every opportunity to spend time with them. He owns his girl dad role!
He’s an avid golfer and tennis player and likes to vacation in Pinehurst and on Kiawah Island. This gives him the chance to enjoy his favorite games and get in more quality time with his family.
Dr. Watson is a member of Central Church of God. He is active with Queen City PRC, the Bless Back Worldwide Missionary Group, and a previous Home Group leader. He has served on the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Metro Board as chairman and also as a Carolinas Regional board member.
